The safety of our campers, teens, and adults is our top priority and we take this responsibility very seriously. Our safety protocols and policies follow local county rules and incorporate the latest recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Policies and procedures are subject to change prior to the start of camp as guidance evolves to fit the current situation. Registered families will receive updated communications prior to the start of camp. Updates and changes will also be detailed below.
1. ARE YOU GIRL SCOUT READY? Please administer this SELF-SCREENING TOOL each day before arriving at camp.
Upon arrival, all children, teens, and adult volunteers should have completed the self-screening tool. If any individual answers YES to any of the symptoms, they may not enter the WDC site or attend camp.
TO BE GIRL SCOUT READY? You should answer NO to the following questions:
In the last 24 hours have you experienced ANY of the following:
2. Masks are optional. We support your choice to wear a mask or not wear a mask.
3. Cleaning, Sanitation, Contact/Spacing:
4. Illness and Injury at Camp:
5. Illness or injury before or during the week of camp:
6. Respiratory Virus Guidance from the CDC (WDC Guiding Policies): The CDC guidance has been copied below:
www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/guidance/respiratory-virus-guidance.html
Each year, respiratory viruses are responsible for millions of illnesses and thousands of hospitalizations and deaths in the United States. In addition to the virus that causes COVID-19, there are many other types of respiratory viruses, including flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The good news is there are actions you can take to help protect yourself and others from health risks caused by respiratory viruses.
This guidance provides practical recommendations and information to help people lower risk from a range of common respiratory viral illnesses, including COVID-19, flu, and RSV.

- Sharing of camper items or food is discouraged.
- Our Outdoor Cooking Station will teach and encourage hand-washing etiquette and follow standard food safety methods for sanitizing and using cooking tools and surfaces. Campers will also learn/review how to prevent cross-contamination and the spreading of germs in cooking environments.
4. Illness and Injury at Camp:
- Anyone suffering an injury or feeling unwell will check in with the camp Health Supervisor or CORE Staff.
- Campers, teens, or adults that are feeling unwell will be put in a designated safe space away from others.
- Our Health Supervisor or CORE Staff will administer the Girl Scout Ready Screening Questionnaire, take temperature, etc. to access the ill attendee.
- If there is a COVID-19 positive test WDC will immediately notify GSWW Customer Care at 800-541-9852 or [email protected], or the after-hours emergency line (800) 303-9963 if applicable. An Incident Report should be filled out by troop leadership or program host. If the Girl Scout activity and the onset of symptoms/positive test occur more than 48 hours apart from each other, Girl Scouts of Western Washington does not need to be notified. Participants with confirmed COVID-19 can return to in-person programming after following the CDC’s Respiratory Virus Guidance (See#8 below).
- Parent/Guardian will be called to let them know that they must pick up their camper or teen within 45 minutes.

- If you have questions and still do not understand the guidelines or timeline below in #8, please email [email protected]
- If you have flu-like symptoms, do not attend camp until at least 24 hours after you no longer have a fever or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medicine. (Follow the guideline below in #8.)
- If you have diarrhea, do not attend camp until you have not had diarrhea for 24 hours. You may need to stay home longer if you have an infection like Norovirus, which is highly contagious.
- If you have sustained an injury outside of camp (twisted ankle, broken arm, etc.) that will keep you from participating in camp activities please contact us at [email protected] to discuss if accommodations can be provided, possibly including a closer drop off location, modified camp day schedule, etc.
- Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds or partial refunds due to any illness (COVID-19, Flu, RSV, Norovirus, etc.) or if you have an injury that keeps you from attending camp. We unfortunately do not offer another week of camp if you are unable to attend as we are a one week a summer camp.
