Training Dates & Requirements for
Adult Volunteers and Teens-
2024 Training-
Review Training Dates!
Pre-camp training is based on a number of factors including your prior experience at camp, whether you will be placed in a new role this year, and what your own training needs are. Some trainings are optional, while others are mandatory. After reviewing the chart below, if you still have questions about which dates you should attend training, please email [email protected]
Our WDC 2024 Retreat & Training: will be hosted at Brightwater again this year. We will be serving a pizza dinner during our 30 minute dinner and social break time as our time has shifted this year due to the rental times available. Please mark your calendar to attend our big event to prepare and get ready for camp!
Preference Survey: Due March 22nd (for Teens and Adults):
Help our placement team make the best placement for you at camp! We appreciate your communication when completing the survey and making your preference of choices clear so we can place you in the best fit for your week at camp. We consider all placement choices for units, stations, and specific grade levels (Campers K-6/Boys/Pixies) and your buddy requests/notes as well... as so be specific. If you don't complete the preference form by the due date, we do our best to place you where you are needed and where we think you will have a successful week at camp. If you know you want to be in a station and teach a skill to all the different grades level units or if you prefer to be in a camper unit all week long... let us know...please give us at least 3 top choices of stations or grade levels as the survey directs you.
Teens, our Retreat is Mandatory, if you are unable to attend you will need to contact the directors in advance of the Retreat. Failure to communicate in advance or attend will affect your leadership placement at camp. If you miss the Retreat, there will be make-up work to complete before you can attend camp.
Teen Adults (teens who graduate June 2024) can choose to attend the PA Retreat (3:00-7:30 PM) or the Adult Retreat Meetings/Camp Meeting 5:00-7:30 PM. Teen Adults will be considered official ADULTS at WDC. Placement preferences are allotted in this order: PAs (incoming grades 12-8), Teen Adults, and Adult Volunteers. However, we are very happy to work with our oldest teen leaders to find you a job that will still be a great fit for your leadership and skills.
All Adult Volunteers are required to attend the Adult Planning Meetings (5:00-7:30 PM). Adults assigned as Station Leaders or Boys or Pixie Unit Leaders are required to attend our Station Leader Training during the PA Retreat where you will work in your Station Teams and Unit Teams preparing for the week of camp (5:00-7:30 PM). All other Adult Volunteers/ Barn Staff will meet meet with CORE/Camp Leaders to plan for the week of camp (5:00-7:30 PM).
