2023 6th Grade Overnight Permission Slip
|
This is a special night at camp for our 6th graders in their last year as campers at WDC. They will have the opportunity to spend the night camping at River Ranch Camp in tents Thursday night after camp ends until Friday morning of camp.
Campers will arrive Thursday morning with their extra bag(s) for the overnight. Please pack items for the overnight in an additional bag(s) or duffel. These bags need to be labeled clearly with names on the outside with duct tape or a large label. Campers will carry their bags to the barn or unit cabins where they will be stored until after camp. At that time, campers will move their bags to the camping location in the Meadow. The fun begins right after camp at 4 PM when the 6th graders set up tents in the Meadow. After the campers are set up, they will help prepare dinner or eat delivered pizza. Dinner menu is TBD, but most often is pizza. The pizza is ordered from Blake’s Pizza (http://blakespizza.com/). We will have the pizzas pre-ordered. If your daughter has special dietary needs, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your camper. (10" gluten free crust/pizza is available for those with allergies and pizzas can also be made with no cheese if campers are allergic to dairy.) If your daughter does not want pizza or the planned menu, they are welcome to bring their own dinner and eat it. After dinner, campers will have some campfire fun and a night of sleeping in tents with their own sleeping bags & sleeping pads. (FYI, there are flushing toilets, sinks, and showers at the facility.) Friday morning, the campers will clean up, break down tents, eat breakfast (menu TBD - will be arranged by other day camp volunteers; breakfast is not the responsibility of overnight volunteers), and store their gear (in cabins or barn, TBD) until Friday pickup. Girls who would like to participate but are not interested in spending the night can be picked up at camp at 9:00pm. (Please make sure to also bring a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and bug repellent if you plan to just stay for the evening.) Please PRINT, fill out, and return the attached permission slip on Tuesday, 7/25/23. Please be sure to indicate on the permission slip whether your daughter will be spending the night or will attend the evening only. The fee for both the Thursday evening-only OR for the evening and overnight for each 6th grader is $10 (cash or check payable to Woodinville Day Camp). Please bring $10 cash or a check to camp on Tuesday with your completed permission slip. Please see emails with subject Woodinville Day Camp 6th Grade Overnight for more information, including about permission slips and payments, a survey to complete, and medications.

Volunteers needed...
We have a 2023 overnight coordinator and some chaperones, but please contact us if you would also like to chaperone and help out at this event. Contact the directors if interested in chaperoning for the overnight at [email protected].
Do you like to camp? Do you love kids? We might have the perfect fun evening for you to help with... We usually email the parents to request help and then finalize plans and chaperones within the two weeks leading up to or before camp.
Every year we make a request for Girl Scout volunteers to help with this overnight. This can be WDC Volunteers or other 6th grade parents that are GS background-checked and parents of our 6th grade campers.
It's a great evening of fun and easy planned activities. We need about 4 adults to help. Girls sleep separate from the parent volunteers in their own tents/cabins at River Ranch. It is easiest if no other siblings attend with the parent chaperones to help keep our focus on our 6th graders.
We can't make this event happen without your help. If we fail to get enough volunteers the event may be cancelled.
